About the Principal

Alex Jones is the Principal of Camden High School’s main building and traditional instructional program. 
Principal Jones has spent more than 10 years working as an advocate for youth. He has worked tirelessly to empower young people with the necessary skills to maximize future growth by providing targeted academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports, and by maintaining high expectations with strong accountability structures.

Principal Jones has passionately served the families and students of Camden High School for the past 5 years. As an Instructor for the Camelot program, he helped district students improve their reading Lexile scores by two levels, exceeding AYP goals and being recognized as Camelot’s Teacher of the Year. Principal Jones has also served as the English department chairperson, Operations Manager, and Lead Educator at Camden High School, helping to further improve the educational experience of Camden High School students. 

Principal Jones and his team share the common goal of ensuring that our students are empowered and able to leave Camden High School with the tools to be successful in the college or career of their choice. 

Scott E. Shanklin is the Principal of Camden High School’s D-building.

We are committed to provide a rigorous collaborative education incorporating school, work, and project based learning in order to help student develop critical thinking skills and a strong knowledge base, which will help prepare them for later success in college or a career. We also recognize and respect the critical role that both parents and members of the community play as we strive to strengthen those relationships.

Scott Shanklin has served as Principal of Camden High School since 2015. Mr. Shanklin previously worked as a Principal of FX Mc Graw Elementary, and Vice Principal of Morgan Village Middle School. He began his career as a middle school teacher at Veterans Middle School and has taught in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.

Mr. Shanklin has a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University-Camden and a Master’s degree from Cheyney University. He is a native of Camden and he is graduate of Camden High School class of 1989.
