HEALTH EDUCATION
 
 
 
Health Education Requirements for Graduation:
  • Grade 9 Health Education 1 (2 1/2 credits)
  • Grade 10: Health Education 2 (2 1/2 credits)
  • Grade 11: Health Education 3 (2 1/2 credits)
  • Grade 12: Health Education 4 (2 1/2 credits)
 
Health Education Course Descriptions:
 
Health 1 - 9th Grade:
Students learn how to make healthful choices about topics such as human behavior, nutrition, physiology and anatomy of body sysems, fire safety, drugs and family life/AIDS.
 
Health 2 - 10th Grade:
Students learn how to make healthful choices about topics such as physiology and anatomy of ody systems, drugs and family life/sexually transmitted diseases.
 
Health 3 - 11th Grade:
Students learn how to make healthful choices about topics such as first aid, AIDS, drugs and driver education.
 
Health 4 - 12th Grade:
Students learn how to make healthful choices about topics such as aging, death and dying, human sexuality and family life, drugs and sexually transmitted diseases.
 
All health education programs will provide: Information in such a way that it influences students to take positive action regarding their own health. During the course, students will learn that good health habits can prevent illness. In addition to the information covered at each grade leve, students will learn that good health habits can improve the way they look, the way they perform in school and sports, the way they interact with others, and the way they feel about themselves. At all grade levels, teachers will provide students with the opportunity to take an active and personal role in the learning process, a role that will allow them to become active partners in maintaining and improving their level of wellness. Throughout all programs students participate in simple experiments, personal inventories and projects that help them learn how to make healthful choices. As students acquire knowledge and decision making skills in these areas, they also will gain the confidence they need to take responsibility for their own health.
 
 
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
 
 
Physical Education Requirements for Graduation:
  • Grade 9: Physical Education (One Semester 2 1/2 credits)
  • Grade 10: Physica Education (One Semester 2 1/2 credits)
  • Grade 11: Physica Education (One Semester 2 1/2 credits)
  • Grade 12: Physica Education (One Semester 2 1/2 credits)
 
Physical Education Course Descriptions:
Physical Education 1 - 9th Grade Ninth grade physical Education activities are selected to adi students in the develoment of physical growth, strength, vigor, skills, coordination and social accomplishments. Opportunitirs also exist for participation in activities that may be utilized as lifetime physical activities.
 
Physical Education 2 - 10th Grade Tenth grade Physical Education activities are selected to aid students in achieving optimal mental, social and physical development and to arouse and/or increase their interest in physical education. Activities are also selected to increase student interest and participation in lifetime physical activities.
 
Physical Education 3 - 11th Grade Eleventh grade Physical Education activities are selected to aid student/group participation in situations which are sholesome, mentally stimulating and socially sound. In addition, activities are geared to develop student interest and participation in lifetime physical activity.
 
Physical Education 4 - 12th Grade Twelfth grade Physical Education activities are selected to aid in achieving optimal mental, social and physical develoment and to arouse and/or increase their interest in physical education. Opportunities also exist for participation in activities that enhance lifetiime and recreational pursuits.
